Here’s some things you should know before you begin lessons for this instrument:
What to Expect:
In our lessons, we’ll go over the many different aspects of playing the guitar, such as note-reading, strumming, chords, and tabs.
● Your own guitar
● Protective guitar case
● Guitar pick (optional)
● Neck strap (optional)
● Guitar amp and chord (for electric guitars)
When picking out your guitar, there are many options available. You can shop in person at a music store such as Guitar Center, or you can even shop online. I, personally, bought my current guitar and case brand new from Ebay.
While some online options may be much more affordable, it’s always a good idea to do your research and compare the quality and reviews to those on more commercial websites. I recommend Yamaha, especially for beginners, when picking out a guitar. They tend to be fairly affordable and good quality, too.
Another aspect of getting your first guitar is what style you plan to buy. For smaller children, I recommend getting a classical/nylon-string guitar. The strings tend to be softer than those of an acoustic/steel-string guitar and easier on small hands. Finally, it’s important to consider the size of the guitar when buying for children.
